POSITION SUMMARY:
Constance Lake First Nation (CLFN) is seeking a Policy Advisor to lead the review, updating, and
ongoing maintenance of organizational policies. The Policy Advisor is responsible for researching,
revising, and updating CLFN policies across departments. This role works closely with leadership,
management, and stakeholders to ensure policies are clear, consistent, and effectively support
operational and governance requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Post-secondary education or degree in Law, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a
related field (A combination of education and experience will be considered)
 Minimum 2–3 years of experience in policy development, review, or analysis
 Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
 Knowledge of governance and policy development best practices
 Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities
 Pro􀏐iciency in standard office software
 Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel as required
 Cree or Ojibway language skills are an asset
 Must pass a criminal background check

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Review, update, and revise existing CLFN policies to ensure accuracy, relevance, and
compliance
 Research legislation, regulations, and best practices impacting First Nations governance and
operations
 Develop new policies where gaps are identified
 Ensure policies align with CLFN’s mission, strategic objectives, and risk management
practices
 Support policy implementation by developing associated procedures, guidelines, and tools
 Monitor and evaluate policies to ensure they remain effective and up to date
 Provide advice and reports to senior management on policy-related matters
